Daniel
was fortunate to be allowed to try a friend's Golf in a sprint event, run
by Borough 19 Motor Club, at North Weald Airfield in Essex. This was a
particularly useful exercise in evaluation the behavior of a particular
type of differential. The braking issue was down to the owner fitting one
brake pad the wrong way around... surprisingly it still stopped very well. |

For
amusement Daniel decided to try some more grass autotest action in his
road car... straight from the office, much to the amusement of some fellow
Sevenoaks and District motor club members.
Unfortunately the fields were a little too rough to be risking damage to
the daily runner, despite the fitment of a sump guard, discretion was the
better part of valor and no further events were entered. |

| AutoSolo

As
part of the development of the Xsara, the car was entered in the Sevenoaks
and District Motor Club AutoSolo. Similar to a sprint but at lower speeds,
this needed some different driving techniques as used in Autotests.
Unfortunately the tyre choice was somewhat limited by a
damaged wheel stud, but the aim of the exercise was fun and development.
The
latest developments of the car were validated and the next steps
were verified... and some fun was had! The result was 4th in a class of
10.
